The Greater Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce Summer Student Job Internship Program Seeking Interested Businesses

FORT LAUDERDALE – The Greater Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce (GCACC) is appealing to local businesses to participate in its 2011 Summer Student Job Internship Program. The program runs from June through August.

All internship sites must commit to hosting an intern for at least 3 days per week in a 7-week period and at a minimum agree to provide intern with lunch daily.

The Greater Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce (GCACC) annual Summer Youth Job Internship Program provides high school juniors and seniors, between the ages of 14 and 18 years, with internship and life skills and helps them meet educational, job readiness and career exploration goals. An internship also offers the chance to learn by doing in a setting where the student is supervised by a workplace professional, and have the opportunity to achieve his or her own learning goals.

Possible benefits to Business participating in the program include:

· Interns are potential employees after graduating from school

· Reduces recruitment costs and risks. The company can employ intern they have trained.

· Provide young motivated individuals who can stimulate productivity at the workplace

· Enhance leadership and supervisory skills of persons in the company mentoring interns.

· Long term benefit to the workforce by educating interns about what is expected of them in the 21st century workplace.
