The Charmettes of Broward, Inc. honors prominent Jamaican in South Florida

FT. LAUDERDALE – The Charmettes of Broward, Inc. will be honoring Winsome “Lady C” Charlton at the 51st Annual Ebony Fashion Fair Extravaganza on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. at the War Memorial Auditorium, 800 N. E. 8th Street, Fort Lauderdale.

Winsome Lady C Charlton will be honored for her contributions in the South Florida community and will be presented with the John H. Johnson legacy Media Award.

Winsome who is from Jamaica was instrumental in creating Caribbean programming in the South Florida radio industry on WAVS 1170AM twenty years ago. She volunteers her time on many boards of charitable organizations such as the Caribbean Heartmenders Association, and the Jamaica USA Chamber of Commerce.

Charlton has been well recognized in the South Florida Caribbean-American community for her hard work and dedication and was selected by The Charmettes of Broward, Inc. as the organization seeks to honor individuals of high moral and ethical character who demonstrate outstanding leadership in media and the community. “We are very excited about this year’s gala event and honoring Winsome Charlton” says Bennie Moultry, Ed.D General Chairperson of The Charmettes.
