Sunshine Theatre presents Big Mother’s Day Treat
PEMBROKE PINES – South Florida theatre goers will enjoy another great treat this Mother’s Day weekend when Sunshine Theatre Company, celebrating their 25th year of promoting top quality entertainment, presents Basil Dawkins exciting new comedy, Uptown Bangarang 2.
Last year we were introduced to ‘bangarang’ in the Webster family where the husband Edgar a successful televangelist with political aspirations , tried coping with his wife Veronica suffering from post traumatic stress disorder. Complicating things was his attraction to the young helper Precious while he grappled with his son’s sexuality.
In Uptown Bangarang 2, the bangarang continues as Dawkins again pokes fun at the hypocrisy in the upper crust of Jamaican society as Edgar is in the midst of a tight election campaign and while having no interest in his wife continues to actively pursue his helper Precious. Aside from the constant aggravation of his son Abe, his sister in law and her boyfriend who have moved in with them he gets some devastating news that could not only rock his household but destroy his political career.” WHAT, Precious Preg….
Directed by Jeffrey Anderson-Gunter of the Caribbean American Repertory Theatre, Uptown Bangarang 2 boasts an energetic, talented, cast of Karl Williams, Douglas Proute, Maylynne Walton, Ruth Hoshing, Maurice Bryan, Lawrence Woodham, Jerry Benzwick and Sakina as Precious.
