Sugar Band to perform at Soca Awards

NEW YORK – The Nu-Vybes Band (Sugar Band) is at it again as they are continuing their successful 2006 with many accolades and achievements.

The “Best Soca Group” according to the Reggae Soca Music Awards was again nominated for and will be performing at the 4th annual International Soca Music Awards to be held at the world famous Apollo theatre on September 8th 2006 in New York.

The band is nominated for the “Best Overall Soca Group” award and is expected to share the Soca Awards stage with other soca superstars including Machel Montano, Mr. Vegas, Bunji Garlin, Allison Hinds and others. The event will be a major part of this years Labor Day weekend.

The band is expected to headline the Soca Awards after party fete which will feature other performers including Elvis White and Claudette Peters with special guests including Shurwayne Winchester, Kevin Lyttle and Destra.

The Vybes will then play other engagements throughout the Labor Day weekend and then climax the eventful weekend with a huge Labor Day parade appearance as they are the headline band for the Eastern Caribbean Labor Day Mas Band and the St.Kitts-Nevis Labor Day mas troupe which combined will feature well over 10,000 revelers.

The band also recently launched their very first music video and have been circulating the Caribbean and internationally to outlets including MTV’s Tempo. The name of the video is Don’t Stop the Tempo and it was shot on location in St.Kitts and St.Thomas and was directed by Kittitian director Roger Brisbane and Trinidadian director Eniola who has worked with soca diva Destra.
