Spirit inaugurates service to Montego Bay, Kingston from Ft. Lauderdale

Ft. Lauderdale, FL – Spirit Airlines inaugurated service from its Fort Lauderdale hub to strengthen its position as the leading low cost carrier to the Caribbean. The airline adds non-stop service to Montego Bay and Kingston Jamaica as well as an intra-Florida flight to Orlando.

“We are delighted to start service to Jamaica today as it demonstrates our low fare Caribbean leadership,” said Barry Biffle, Chief Marketing Officer of Spirit Airlines. “South Florida, our hometown, is an exceedingly important market to Spirit. Last winter, we offered area residents 11 non-stop markets but this winter, locals will choose from 23 non-stop markets which ensures that Spirit offers more non-stops than any other carrier at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. As the low fare Caribbean carrier, we look forward to sharing our hot fares, sweet new airplanes, and sexy destinations with all of South Florida.”

“We welcome the addition of service by Sprit Airlines to Jamaica,” said Tom Jargiello, Broward County Aviation Director. “These new flights will provide additional opportunities for the large Jamaican community living in Broward and for all of the residents in South Florida to travel to Jamaica. They will also provide additional connections for Jamaicans to fly to Greater Fort Lauderdale, or who may wish to continue on to other cities that are served by Spirit.”

Business Class Fares to Florida

Spirit Airlines also introduced Jamaica to new fares for Spirit Plus, its business class product. These fares support Spirit’s xtra6inches.com campaign which promotes Spirit Plus’ attributes.

Spirit Plus, business class offers:

— 6 more inches of legroom than coach

— more than 6 extra inches in seat width than in coach

— 2 by 2 large leather seats

— complimentary cocktails and snacks

— priority boarding

“We’re excited to give Jamaica an extra 6 inches on the eve of our new service,” said Barry Biffle, Chief Marketing Officer of Spirit Airlines. “Customers know size matters, and there’s nothing like a smooth ride in a comfortable leather seat to your favorite destination. Our new fleet of Airbus aircraft has six more inches of legroom and seat width in business class vs. coach. We also offer free cocktails and snacks. And Spirit Plus fares are a fraction of what you might expect to pay for business class. These fares are just in time for our start of service on November 10.”
