Sphinx Records releases new albums from Benaiah & Dennis Brown With Friends
MIAMI – The biblical name Benaiah comes from a musician and warrior during King David’s reign. It is also Hebrew name meaning “Built by God.” As the new millennium matures, a group of talented artists named Benaiah, delivering roots reggae music and lover’s rock, has reappeared on the music scene.
The talented and versatile Benaiah band is a musical and vocal group. On lead vocals is Joseph Benaiah, skillfully supported with harmonies by Renita “Nilajah” Emanuel.
Although many may still be unfamiliar with their work, Benaiah is no stranger to the world of music. They have four albums to their credit We Nah Give Up, Children of Israel, Time Eternal, and their new album, New Beginning, produced by the maestro, Dean Fraser, who has been referred to as the Quincy Jones of Reggae music. Also featured on the album in combination style are Reggae messenger, Luciano, on “Make Ends Meet” and Grammy-winning singer Carlton Coffie (formerly of Inner Circle) doing a combination on the track “Nothing New Under The Sun.” Nilajah Emanuel steps up to the plate as lead vocalist on “Take A Chance” and “Angel of Mine.”

The album selections are rhythmic, rich in texture with sultry horn arrangements; roots and culture lyrics and a touch of lover’s rock. Other songs that stand out are “Traveling,” “Thinking It’s Safe,” “True Love,” a cover of Bob Marley’s “Who The Cap Fit” and many more. The album is marketed and distributed by CED Entertainment Distribution for the Sphinx Records label.
Benaiah has traveled all over the world, from Japan to Brazil, Europe and Canada and across the USA working as a show band and backing band. They have accompanied artists such as Percy Sledge, The Delfonics, Freddie McGregor, Michael rose, Dean Fraser, Marcia Griffiths, The Mighty Diamonds, among others. In the past few years, They took a hiatus from the road and had gone back into the studio to refocus on their recording and performing careers.
The “New Beginning” of Benaiah shines like a bright sunny day, the group is all fired up with every reason to be hot like the sun.
DENNIS BROWN WITH FRIENDS
One of Jamaica’s most beloved and prolific artists, the late Dennis Brown had recorded more than 75 albums and was one of the pioneers of lover’s rock. Bob Marley dubbed him the “Crown Prince of Reggae.” Dennis Emmanuel Brown is referred as one of the true icons in Reggae music. He was a talented artist with exceptional vocal powers and an awesome performer, befitting him to wear a royal crown in Reggae music.

Dennis Brown is recognized on the album by some the top Reggae artists sharing company with the likes of Luciano, Dean Fraser, Sugar Minott, Freddie McGregor, Joseph Benaiah, Screwdriver, Mark Wonder, and Benjy Myaz. All participants stir up a musical storm in celebration of the “Crown Prince.”
