South Regional/Broward College Library Hosts the Seventh Annual Anancy Festival

PEMBROKE PINES – In celebration of National Caribbean American Heritage Month, South Regional/Broward College Library, located at 7300 Pines Boulevard in Pembroke Pines will host the seventh annual Anancy Festival, Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 1:00 pm.
Anancy Fest 2015The library will host this annual event with stories of the West African trickster hero of numerous folk tales, popular across the Caribbean and throughout the African Diaspora. This clever and conniving character is familiar to millions of people worldwide. Anancy Festival is a celebration of the Caribbean’s diverse and spectacular cultural heritage, both traditional and contemporary, and is designed to have special appeal to the young and young at heart.  Children and parents will have the opportunity to learn about Caribbean culture, including folklore, history, music, dance and art.

Listen to storytellers provide funny and exciting tales of the trickster Anancy. The cost is free and there will be entertainment including a steel band, children’s games, arts and crafts, interactive activities and face painting.  Refreshments will be provided.
