South Miami-Dade Alphas Disseminate A S.O.S. For Our Youth

SOUTH MIAMI – The Iota Pi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated participated in a local community panel discussion, entitled Saving Our Sons.

Leaders from across the South Miami-Dade community attended this event to foster a dialogue addressing police brutality and young men of color. The panel consisted of attorneys, representatives from local law enforcement agencies, and journalists.

The discussion was mediated by State Senator, Dwight Bullard. After the guided panel talk, community members were able to voice their concerns and have their questions answered.

Brothers in attendance supported this activity and highlighted the need for police accountability, improved community relations, and conflict resolution.

The event was sponsored by The Women’s Empowerment Circle and the office of State Senator Dwight Bullard.

The Women’s Empowerment Circle is an organization whose mission is to advance opportunities for young professionals in Miami through networking and community engagement.

State Senator Bullard represents the 39th District of Florida which includes Hendry and Monroe Counties and parts of Collier and Miami-Dade Counties.
