Shakki soars at St. Kitts Soca Monarch Contest

ST. KITTS – St.Kitts Soca Diva Jacinth “Shakki” Cao is definitely making her presence felt in the male dominated soca music scene in St.Kitts-Nevis and the Caribbean. The sexy diva lieterally stood head and heels over everyone at the St.Kitts Carnival Sugar Mas Soca Competition held in December during the St.Kitts-Nevis annual carnival celebrations now dubbed Sugar Mas.

Singing her mega Groovy Soca hit “High for Carnival” Shakki’ burst onto the Sugar Mill stage from above the stage. Decked in a magnificent winged costume ,which itself spanned 10 feet, SHAKKI made her way to the Soca Monarch stage while mounted 20 feet in the air.

Shakki excited the massive crowd as they joined her in the refrain “I wanna get High for Carnival” . Although she battled much off-stage issues relating to the show and a flu which threatened to derail the entire performance Shakki belted out her mega-hit much to the delight of the thousands in attendance.

However if her grand 20 feet entrance was not enough she took it to another level when she left the stage with the help of a crane which lifted her off stage where she finished her memorable performance from an amazing 100 feet in the air . It was an amazing feat and performance by the diminutively sexy Shakki. Performing from 100 feet plus in the air was nothing like had ever been seen in St.Kitts for any event or by any performer before.

Shakki along with King Konris gave the Soca Monarch’s two most memorable performances of the night. King Konris’ Power Soca hit Unstoppable Force along with Shakki’s Groovy Soca Hit ‘High for Carnival” were the crowd favourites for the evening.

Konris has been fast-tracked to the semifinals of the International Soca Monarch competition while Shakki has registered two of her hits “High for Carnival” and the Power Soca hit “Vicious” . The former Soca Monarch Queen says she is optimistic about her participation in the International Soca Monarch competition in Trinidad.

“I am very optimistic about my participation in the International Soca Monarch Competition in Trinidad,” said Shakki. “I have registered and I am keeping my fingers crossed and hopefull that the judges would be just as appreciative and blown away by the songs as people have been after hearing the songs since their release late last year. I have had a very successful St. Kitts Carnival season and I fully expect 2011 to be my year,’ said the former Road March Queen

Shakki released her first solo project since 2005’s “Sterling’ album, this past Carnival season. The name of her album is “Riderz Only”.

Shakki along with King Konris were easily the top performers at the St.Kitts Soca Monarch and during the recently concluded carnival season .
