Service of Dedication for new Consul General of Jamaica in NY
NEW YORK – A special service of dedication for Geneive Brown Metzger, newly appointed Consul General of Jamaica in New York, will take place on Sunday, April 13, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Ossining, New York.
Host pastor, Rev. Gordon S. Anderson will be the chief celebrant. Mrs. Brown Metzger and husband, Dr. Stephen Metzger are parishioners at the First Baptist Church of Ossining.
The dedication service comes six weeks after taking office and provides the constituents of Northern New York and Westchester County with their first official meeting with the new Consul General.
Mrs. Brown Metzger took office on March 3, 2008, succeeding Dr. Basil K. Bryan who served as Consul General of Jamaica in New York from April 1998 to September 2007.
The service in Westchester County is the second in an ongoing series of similar engagements for the new Consul General, allowing her to meet with a wider cross-section of the Jamaican constituency in the Tri-State area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
On Sunday, April 6, 2008, the Consul General will be the guest of honor at the regular morning worship service at the St. Monica’s Episcopal Church in Hartford, Connecticut.
During the month of May, Mrs. Brown Metzger will attend regular morning worship services in New York City and New Jersey. “This is the right way to start her stewardship as Jamaica’s first citizen in the state of New York. I am very much looking forward to greeting each one of you at the service and to praying for our nation and all of its leaders,” the Consul General told JIS News.
