CORAL SPRINGS – Iconic Jamaican Singer-Songwriter, Bob Andy (The Bob Andy SongBook); music producers Danny Breakenridge (Upstairs Music), Lloyd Campbell (Joe Frazier Records) and Sam Mitchell (Gospel Trail producer, formerly of Federal Records); radio personalities Jamusa (WAVS1170AM) and Ron Burke (IrieTimes.com); and writer, artis&cultural activist, RAs Don Rico (IMI-AMGBC), will be participants in a ‘reggae roun-di-table’ DISCUSSION & LIVE ONLINE PRESENTATION on ‘The Impact of Early Jamaican Popular Music Culture, its Art (such as mento, ska, rocksteady, reggae), and the various related economic and social realities.’
The discussion will be live-streamed on the IrieTimes.com internet broadcast (@ www.irietimes.com) this Sunday, November 23, from 4 – 6 PM, and will be hosted by Sydney Roberts, President of Jamaica Awareness Inc., the South Florida-based non-profit which prides itself on “30 years of presenting the best of Jamaican culture” to the world.
This Sunday’s ‘reggae roun-di-table’ conversation is part of the lead up to next Saturday’s “Genuine Gold” Thanksgiving Weekend Reggae Showcase; featuring the best of the original pioneers of ska, rocksteady, and reggae music and culture. This year, “Genuine Gold” will pay a special tribute to legendary RockSteady & Reggae balladeer, John Holt, who had been billed to perform on the much-anticipated show, which will take place at the Coral Spring Center for the Arts, on Saturday, November 29, starting at 7:00 PM.
