By: Lorna Wright

SUNRISE It was a Standing-Room-Only crowd, including media representatives, that was found at Sunrise law firm, Wright Muir P.A.’s prestigious ribbon cutting ceremony and award presentation on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 held at its newly- acquired commercial space, 440 Sawgrass Corporate Parkway, Suite 100 with SunTrust Bank as a major sponsor.

In a show of support for Attorney Ghenete Wright Muir who is also a resident of Sunrise, top political and business leaders, family and friends, clients and colleagues from her many professional affiliations were on hand to help her celebrate this amazing milestone.

Attorney Muir felt it was appropriate to acknowledge the people who have provided guidance and support: honorees, to whom plaques were presented, her parents and husband, David Muir.

Ribbon cutters included City of Sunrise Mayor Steven B. Feren, Vice Mayor of Lauderhill, Dale V.C. Holness, one of Wright Muir P.A.’s honorees and Attorney Marlon Hill, Jamaican Diaspora Advisory Board Representative for the Southern United States, another honoree. Also present were Jeffrey Newton, County Attorney and another Wright Muir, P.A. honoree, Sunrise City Commissioner, Sheila D. Alu who took some time out from her graduation ceremony from law school that evening to congratulate Ms. Muir.

Mr. Hill, colleague, friend, and one who has extensively interacted with Ms. Muir stated, “We are proud of Ghenete and her accomplishments as a lawyer and community leader. She epitomizes the best of what the Jamaican Diaspora has to offer to our local communities. This revitalized venture for her law firm captures the essence of the American Dream.”

Ms. Muir relocated from New York City to the City of Sunrise in the summer of 2002 with her husband and their two sons and quickly got involved in the legal community. Upon arriving in Florida, Ms. Muir accepted employment with Legal Aid of Broward County, Inc. and soon thereafter became a member of the T.J. Reddick Bar Association and the Caribbean Bar Association.

She established Wright Muir, P.A. in April 2005 with the mindset that it was critical to own the commercial space where she would house her law firm, so this goal was always at the forefront as the firm continued to service its clients.

Wright Muir also holds membership in the Greater Sunrise Chamber of Commerce, the Lauderhill Chamber of Commerce, the Jamaica-USA Chamber of Commerce and the Broward County Bar Association. Ms. Muir was also recently appointed to the Planning & Zoning Advisory Board for the City of Sunrise.

She is licensed to practice law in Florida, Connecticut and New York and the law firm is a general practice primarily focusing on family law, immigration, criminal defense, business law and real estate matters, including closings.

In her husband and Business Manager, David Muir’s unbiased opinion, “Ghenete has an outstanding built-in customer service personality and is very responsive to her clients’ needs – they come first in her professional life.” As a spouse, he states “I’m very happy for her success and to see her achieving her goals.”

Wright Muir, P.A. is committed to providing excellent representation to its present and prospective clients. This law firm is equipped with the knowledge to handle transactions and services relative to its areas of practice and have recently added three attorneys who will work on an of-counsel basis to ensure that a maximum amount of legal professionals are available to invest the time and effort needed to provide effective results.

This law firm intends to be a leader in its community and is confident about its future as a professional beacon on behalf of its clients.
