OAS Secretary General Travels to Haiti
PORT AU PRINCE – The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, traveled to Haiti on Thursday, July 21, where he will visit President Michel Martelly and will take part in the meeting of the Interim Haiti Recovery Commission.
Secretary General Insulza will meet President Martelly today at the Presidential Palace, their first official encounter since the Haitian leader took office.
The head of the Hemispheric Organization will also hold meetings with Jean-Max Bellerive, outgoing Prime Minister of Haiti, and with Mariano Fernández, Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations in Haiti and head of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH).
The OAS Secretary General is to attend tomorrow (Friday, July 22) the meeting of the Interim Haiti Recovery Commission, chaired by Bill Clinton, and will also meet with the former President of the United States. Furthermore, he will also walk through the neighborhoods in Port-au-Prince where the Pan-American Development Foundation (PADF) is helping with recovery efforts.
