NY Governor invited to Mt. Obama

Washington, DC – To celebrate the inauguration of President Barack Obama, the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, represented by Director of Tourism Mrs. Derede Samuel Whitlock hosted a reception at the AKA hotel in Washington, DC. for the travel industry.

Guests included Governor David A. Paterson, Governor of the State of New York seen here being officially invited to visit Mount Obama by young Antiguan Jerlisa Parker while Mrs. Samuel Whitlock looks on.

Immediately following the U.S. Presidential Elections, Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister, the Honourable Baldwin Spencer, in his capacity as Chairman of the Group 77 and China, and as Chairman of the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community, in celebrating the historic election of Barack Obama as President of the United States of America, took measures for Antigua and Barbuda’s highest mountain peak to be dedicated in honor of President Obama and renamed “Mount Obama”.
