North Miami – At the invitation of U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, North Miami Mayor Andre Pierre attended the International Conference of World Cities and Regions for Haiti in Martinique today to participate in the discussion concerning equitable and sustainable development of Haiti.
The conference is a precursor to the United Nations donors’ conference which will take place in New York on Wednesday, March 31st.

Mayor Pierre was selected by the U.S. State Department to represent the United States Government in this meeting of state and local government officials from various co-host countries.
The conference, hosted by the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, is designed for the international community to work alongside Haitian local authorities to discuss the Haitian vision for reconstruction efforts and to develop an action program for the successful rebuilding of Haiti.
The findings from the conference will be used to help to begin the formulation of a plan for long-term rebuilding efforts.
