FT. LAUDERDALE – Jamaican Actor/ Director Paul Campbell recently completed the filming of the motion picture “Heart of Summer” in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
According to PAR Pictures President Galfrie “Ray” Balgrove the movie’s production started on January 2nd, 2009 and it also features the Caribbean’s leading fashion male model/actor, Jamaican Oraine Barrett. The movie is a romance drama film that is scheduled for a US release in spring 2009 and internationally later this year.
Paul Campbell who is known in the Hollywood circle for his role in hit movies such as Dancehall Queen, Third World Cop, Shottas, First Sunday and the soon to be released Hollywood feature Machete Joe says his new position as the co-founder and CEO of the movie production company
PAR Pictures allows him the ability to work in a different genre.
Unlike previous projects Mr. Campbell was involved in, his role as the Chief Executive of the company comes with high expectations. As CEO, Paul Campbell will oversee PAR’s overall operations and the future growth and profitability of the company. The company was in discussion for several months and Mr. Campbell says though the process was a little tedious the timing was also perfect.
PAR Pictures is a joint venture with director Adrian Allen and producers Vivienne Chance and Galfrie “Ray” Balgrove. The company is based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and there are already plans to eventually expand a portion of the company’s production operations to Jamaica for greater efficiency and production development in the region.
The President of the company Galfrie “Ray” Balgrove says PAR’s focus will be on developing motion picture films reflective of the Caribbean experience with a mainstream cross over appeal. The company will be working closely with their production counterparts in Hollywood, New York, Europe and the Caribbean. PAR Pictures is also in production development of another feature project scheduled to start production in spring 2009.
The movie will be directed by Adrian Allen the company’s vice president with Paul Campbell undertaking the starring role. The name of the movie is yet to be announced but will be
released in the coming months.
