NBA Star, Ronny Turiaf, to Host Celebrity Summer Basketball Camp in His Home Island of Martinique

NEW YORK – NBA star, Ronny Turiaf, has announced that he will host a Celebrity Summer Basketball Camp in his home island of Martinique this summer. The event scheduled for June 6-12 will see some 20 professional basketball players from the NBA and Euroleague Basketball join Turiaf in Martinique to lead training clinics, visit sick and underprivileged children and participate in two exhibition games.

Muriel Wiltord, director Americas for the Martinique Promotion Bureau/CMT USA, commented on the event, saying: “All of Martinique is extremely proud of the many fine accomplishments our native son, Ronny, has achieved on the basketball court. But, it is through charitable works like these that he really shines and shows the true warm and welcoming character of our country.”

Basketball stars scheduled to join Turiaf in Martinique include Boris Diaw (Charlotte Bobcats), Mickaël Pietrus (Phoenix Suns) and Johan Petro (New Jersey Nets).

Currently a member of the New York Knicks, Turiaf was born and raised in the small seaside town of Le Robert, centrally located on Martinique’s windswept Atlantic coast. Turiaf, who concurrently stars for the French National Basketball Team, was originally drafted into the NBA by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2005. He is also a former member of the Golden State Warriors.
