“Music Lessons” to air special feature on Reggae Bash 2009 vs. Gay Activists
DAVIE – Reggae artists Buju Banton and Beenie Man are scheduled to perform in Miami on Saturday, Oct. 31 at the James L. Knight Center for “Reggae Bash 2009”.
Their scheduled performance has created controversy in the South Florida community as activists from organizations such as Equality Florida would like to have the Miami concert canceled as in other markets such as Tampa, Orlando and Tallahassee based on anti-gay lyrics from the Reggae Artists, Buju and Beenie Man.
On Saturday, October 17th the “Music Lessons” radio show on WAVS 1170 AM hosted by Luther Mack will address the issue of gay activists and their mission to silence Reggae artists that they deem homophobic. The show will air from 4pm to 6pm on WAVS 1170 and streamed live at www.WAVS1170.com.
A panel consisting of Marriage and Family Therapist Joy McKenzie, Music Historian Abdul Muhsin, Promoter Andrew Minott, Financial Advisor Daxx Dunn, and from Equality Florida Vanessa Brito a representative from the Gay community to discuss the issues as to whether the Reggae artists songs incite hate and killing of gays, should the show be canceled and First Amendment rights that both sides have.
To express your views and opinion they will be taking calls at 954 792-1170.
The special “Music Lessons” show is sponsored by: Global Vibes Entertainment, Sunday Cabaret Top Hop Gardens, RAD Financial and Mack-Ace Promotions.
