MoneyGram Extends Low-fee Money Transfer Sends to Haiti; Provides Update on Haitian-based Agents

MINNEAPOLIS – MoneyGram International (NYSE: MGI) today announced that is extending through Jan. 31, 2010 its special pricing of $1 USD (and similar pricing in foreign currencies) for money transfers to Haiti from any of MoneyGram’s 186,000 locations throughout the world.

The company also said that 40 of its money-transfer agent locations in earthquake-stricken Haiti are currently operational and able to receive transfers, including three in Port au Prince and five locations in surrounding cities.

MoneyGram agent locations operating in the capital city of Port-au-Prince are located at 26 Rue Jean Paul; Rue Capios 70; and Rue de la Reunion 28. Additional functioning agents are located in the following Haitian cities:

Overall, MoneyGram service in Haiti consists of approximately 130 agent locations operated by Unibank, Rapid Transfe, FONKOZE and Grace Trading. More than half of these locations are within affected areas.
