MIAMI – In commemoration of the annual MLK Day of Service, Hamilton, Miller & Birthisel, LLP will begin its 10th anniversary year in collaboration with Florida International University and community partners in organizing beautification and landscaping projects at its adopted Brownsville Middle School in Liberty City, 4899 NW 24th Ave, Miami, FL 33142 on Saturday, January 16, 2016, 9am to 1pm.

This community event will bring together local citizens and their families to serve a local school in a community of need and advance Dr. King’s dream of social justice and economic opportunity for all.

With the holiday just days away, HM&B is urging all community partners to visit www.tinyurl.com/MLKBrownsville to register as an individual for the Day of Service project at Brownsville or to find other volunteer opportunities in Miami Dade County with Florida International University.

“Dr. King devoted his life to advancing social justice, equality, and economic opportunity for all, and taught us that each citizen has a role in elevating Miami and America to their greatest potential,” said Jerry Hamilton, managing partner, Hamilton, Miller & Birthisel, LLP. “As we celebrate our 10th year anniversary in 2016, we are more committed than ever in being a different kind of law firm that inspires us. Dr. King is certainly an inspiration for our professional work and contributions to the community at large.”

In 1994, Congress passed legislation encouraging the King Federal Holiday to be observed as a national day of service. HM&B will welcome volunteers from City Year Miami, The Lab Miami, Florida Caribbean Students Alumni Organization, Wilkie D. Ferguson Jr. Bar Association, Caribbean Bar Association, University of Miami Caribbean and Black Law Students Associations, Sadie’s Daughter, Girl Power, Juanita’s Kitchen, among other community partners.
