Miami’s Top Reggae/Dancell DJ, King Waggy Tee Celebrates His Anniversary

MIAMI – Back in the days, King Waggy Tee got his Respect for being the wickedest selector by showing his knowledge of music and the way he could keep a party going straight through the night until the morning. He has showcased his ability over the years and has made the transition from Dancehall to Soca to House to Rap, R&B & Slow Jams to a diverse format. He has boasted the ability to keep the dance floor going without any interruptions or long talking on the microphone.

Back in the days, it was all about the MIXING and BEAT MATCHING.

King Waggy Tee earned the title of “King” by winning Florida’s Selector Clash 3 years in a row. This was an annual contest where the audience got to judge for the Selector that represented the BEST SELECTIONS, BEST STYLE, BEST EXECUTION & BEST PERFORMANCE for the night, some what like the World Clash of today. The winner was crowned “KING” for that year. He has also clashed & played alongside notorious sounds like Body Guard, David Rodigan, Afrique, Inner City, Metro Media, Addies, Bass Oddysey, Stone Love, Renaissance, Poison Dart, Tony Matterhorn, Black Chiney, Code Red, Richie D and much more.

King Waggy Tee has played at many of clubs in his hometown of Miami. He has always managed to keep the dance floor filled for over a decade at popular events that he has played at. He has managed to maintain the title of the main attraction at most of the events that he has worked at over the years. He boasts the ability to play the whole night and consistently holding it down by himself. This has been proven to be true on many occasions.

Today, he has partnered up with Patrick Ewing , a hype man, who has been toasting on the microphone for him over 10 years now. Today they are recognized as the package.

Over the years, Waggy Tee has played at notorious hot spots like The Hungry Whale in Kendall , Club Manhattan in South Miami, the world famous 5th Street on South Beach , Strawberry’s in Hialeah, Club Castle, CoCo Bongo’s on South Beach, Lime Key in Kendall, Cameo in Miami Beach, Planet Reggae, Deco Drive in Hollywood, Peppers in Ft Lauderdale , Da Palace, and Naked.

Today, Waggy Tee’s schedule includes playing music in international arenas including the islands of the Caribbean, Europe and Japan. He still maintains his commitment to the South Florida FM waves each & every Friday night on 99 Jamz.

Presently, he has his own radio show going on 12 years entitled “THE BASHMENT EXPLOSION with KING WAGGY TEE” on Friday nights/Saturday mornings 11pm to 2am on WEDR 99.1 FM (99 JAMZ). You can check him out on WWW.WEDR.COM every Friday night on the webcam or listen anyway “LIVE”.

Waggy Tee still finds the time to do his radio show weekly apart from traveling. He is now on his 12th year on the Arbitron rated #1 radio station in South Florida WEDR 99.1 FM (99 JAMZ) every Friday Night/Saturday Morning 11pm to 2am. His three hour mix show called The Bashment Explosion with King Waggy Tee is also hosted by Patrick Ewing & Mike B.

He shows his versatility in playing all types of music from dancehall to hip hop and R&B in different sets every Friday. He continues to leave his mark in reggae and dancehall even after 31 years in the business.

In April of 2010, Waggy Tee will celebrate his 32nd Anniversary with a host of celebrity friends and artists.

Although King Waggy Tee has not clashed another sound in years, his arsenal of dubs are respected among his peers. He has continued to leave his mark on the industry beyond the irreplaceable foundation dubs in his possession. This living legend has matured into a reggae music pioneer that continues to steer great music by new artists and solid veterans through the years.
