Miami Dolphins and Florida’s Blood Center Blood Drive Score BIG

MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins and Florida’s Blood Centers hosted Touchdown for Life, one of the biggest one-day blood drives in Florida. 1,567 registered participants took part in the day’s event which was a 50% increase from last year.

“Beating last year’s total when was at the time a one day record for a single site blood drive in Florida Blood Center history was a wonderful thing,” said Dolphins CEO Mike Dee. ”We had 300 people here in line this morning at 6:45 a.m. waiting to get in and register. I think people get what this means. Not everyone can give money or give time, but the gift of blood can make a difference and impact lives. It is a powerful thing. This is a 52 week a year struggle.”

“The Dolphins do so many things in the community and all the alumni, current players and cheerleaders were happy to do our part for the city,” said linebacker Channing Crowder. “When you give your time, it sometimes means more than money. You can write a check for anything, but to see people and kids today brighten up and smile when they saw us was more fulfilling. When there are opportunities like this, a lot of guys take advantage.”
