Miami-Dade Offering Support For Chile Following Earthquake

MIAMI – Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Alvarez, together with Commissioner Rebeca Sosa, send condolences to the residents of Chile following the deadly earthquake which struck the country early this morning.

“As news about the death and damage caused by the earthquake in Chile unfold, our hearts go out to the people of Chile and the residents of Miami-Dade County with ties to the South American nation. As with the earthquake in Haiti, the pictures of damage are devastating and the effects will be felt for a very long time. Chile is a friend of Miami-Dade County, and our prayers are with its people.”

Chile is one of Miami-Dade Country’s largest trading partners, and Miami-Dade shares a Sister City Agreement with the City of Iquique, Chile. The agreement promotes citizen diplomacy, international cultural understanding and trade and commerce.
