Miami-Dade County Commissioner Dorrin Rolle and Rebuilding Haiti Committee to Sponsor “H20 for Haiti” Benefit Program

North Miami – On Saturday, January 23, 2010 Haitian business owners, artists and community leaders, along with Miami-Dade County Commissioner Dorrin Rolle will present “Rebuilding” relief event to raise money for the earthquake victims in Haiti.

The group will sponsor “H20 for Haiti”, at Oak Grove Park, 690 NE 159th Street, North Miami Beach, FL from 3pm-10pm. The goal of this effort is to immediately raise money to provide 2 million gallons of water desperately needed to the earthquake victims. This is the beginning of an ongoing effort to ensure that the people of Haiti will receive the water that is so needed.

The expected 20,000 attendees of this event will be able to make donations towards the purchase of water, or bring bottles of water which the Rebuilding Haiti Committee will distribute in Port-au-Prince, immediately following the event.“The images coming out of Haiti are gut-wrenching. The aftermath of this earthquake has caused complete devastation and the suffering in Haiti has only begun,” said Commissioner Rolle. “One of the biggest resources lacking in Haiti right now is clean, accessible water. Without it, we are losing lives daily. I’m asking everyone in Miami-Dade County to contribute anything they can to this cause to help our friends abroad”.

The presenting sponsor NOPIN Long Distance, along with Voila has pledged their on-going support. “NOPIN has been directly affected by the earthquake. The majority of our employees and customers are from the Haitian community. We are dedicated to helping to get clean drinking water to Haiti. Water is essential to life and Haiti must receive it,” states Laurent Lamothe, Board member NOPIN Long Distance.

The benefit event will feature performances of songs of inspiration and hope by Sweet Micky, T-Vice, Alan Cave, Jowee Omicil, Harmonik and Gabel. “We want to honor the lives that were lost and raise hope for the people that are faced with a long road of rebuilding ahead of them. This concert will be quite different from our normal performances as we will be featuring songs of hope, solidarity and pride,” states Sweet Micky, prominent Haitian artist.
