Pantastik Steelband Facts-Powered by Miami Broward Carnival
SOUTH FLORIDA – Pantastik steelband currently holds the 2014 Miami / Broward Panorama championship. The band started in May 2009 solely with intention of teaching the young children of south Florida the arts of the steel pan. Our band is comprised of mostly young adults, who are not only with Caribbean background.
“We serve as an Educational learning centre in Opa Locka Miami” says Patrick Campbell. The band was founded by Mr. Patrick & Mrs. Earline Campbell. The full name of their organization is Pantastik Musical Educational Development Inc.
According to the Campbells, “In preparation for 2014 Panorama we gave full dedication to practicing and working hard, even adding additional days to our usual days of practice .
When carnival first started in the Island of Trinidad & Tobago the steelpan was the accompanying music for the masqueraders. It play a big part in carnival to keep the culture and national instrument as a reminder of the history of our culture.
