Limitied U.S. Pre-Clearance Operations in Nassau and Freeport
NASSAU, The Bahamas – The United States Embassy wishes to advise the public of the resumption of U.S. Pre-Clearance operations at the Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau as of Monday August 29. Due to limited staffing in response to Hurricane Irene, all passengers flying to the United States should expect longer than normal delays through the end of the week.
U.S. Pre-Clearance operations at the Grand Bahama International Airport in Freeport remain temporarily closed. As a result, all passengers traveling to the United States from Freeport require a valid U.S. passport or a valid U.S. visa to present to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials upon arrival to the United States. U.S. Pre-Clearance services in Freeport will resume as soon as possible.
The Government of the United States regrets any inconvenience caused to travelers in the wake of Hurricane Irene and asks all passengers flying to the United States to be patient as CBP works to restore full staffing levels.
