BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – Courts, the leading retail furniture and home appliance company in Latin America and the Caribbean is committed to serving the needs of consumers in all of its markets.
Courts CEO Mario Guerrero, speaking at a ceremony to officially launch the newly- refurbished grand Courts Basseterre told St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas that the timing could not be better.
“There is much to celebrate, much to reflect on and much to look forward to, both in your country and our company and I thank you for joining us here today,” said Mr. Guerrero.
“As a company, we celebrate the 13 years we have traded in St. Kitts and Nevis. We have had the honour of being part of homes of this federation, experiencing the growth and development of your country with you, and are privileged that our retail operations here continue to contribute to your success and our regional achievements, even when the serious global economic crisis continues to challenge us all,” the Courts CEO said.

He said that the Courts leadership – owners, executives and managers are excited about the future of Courts in St. Kitts and Nevis and the entire Caribbean and pledged to continue the mission of improving the quality of lives of customers by ‘bringing value home.’
“We look expectantly towards and beyond the economic recovery and are certain that our strategies will foster long term sustainable growth and permit continuation of our efforts to develop our staff and serve the needs of our customers better every day. Building on successes is key, and I am reminded of the message delivered by you, Prime Minister on National Heroes’ Day, when you urged all of St. Kitts and Nevis to continue aspiring for higher standards, to take the federation to the next level. This is exactly what we seek to do as we continue our commercial plans to raise standards and reflect the robust spirit of aspiration and independence born so long ago in this country,” said Mr. Guerrero.

Mr. Guerrero said the Group is the largest furniture and appliance retailer in Central America operating 331 stores in 7 different countries, including the United States. With the acquisition of Courts in 2006, the Group now owns and operates over 440 stores in 18 countries; over 90 of these stores operate as Courts in the Caribbean region.
“From a promotional tagline of “adding value everyday” to now “bringing value home,” we continue to offer affordable and accessible furniture, electronics and appliances to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis,” said Mr. Guerrero who added that he was heartened to learn of the Federation’s Independence theme “Strengthening families for positive nation building.”
“We firmly believe that the “values we bring to people’s homes” in the Caribbean, the OECS and right here in St. Kitts and Nevis support this mandate,” said Mr. Guerrero.
He said that the recent refurbishments of the Courts stores in St. Kitts and in Dominica this year, the Castries (St. Lucia) and Kingstown (St. Vincent) branches late last year, and significant face-lifts to St. John’s (Antigua) and Vieux Fort (St. Lucia) branches, are indicative of the part the company plays in building nations.
