Landmark new musical on Jamaica opens at Stratford Circus, London

LONDON – Count Prince Miller, C.D, one of Jamaica’s most loved and respected cultural icons is to head the cast of the new musical J.A. Story. The musical on Jamaica opens at Stratford Circus, London on the Wednesday, November 26th 2008.

J.A. Story has been composed and directed by J.D. Douglas who was the script writer and co-producer of the widely acclaimed Black Heroes in the Hall of Fame. This new musical is a historic and passionate re-enactment of key moments in the history of Jamaica before the arrival of Columbus to independence.

J.A. Story shows how Jamaica has placed its self on the world map of event against great odds and exceptional circumstances. It shows how Jamaica has helped to shape and influence some world events. How did it nurture the men and women ?, who would become National Heroes and bear the prefix “The Right Excellency” in front of their names. Step forward Marcus Garvey, Paul Bogle, George William Gordon, Nanny, Norman Manley, Alexander Bustamante and Rev. Samuel Sharpe.

J.D. Douglas, Director, stated “All the key events in Jamaica’s history, and world wide influences that helped shaped this remarkable island are re-created with a cast that is as diverse and talented as the people of Jamaica. A supporting cast of British characters including Noel Coward, Welsh born Captain Morgan and Ian Fleming who created and wrote his 13 James Bond novels in Jamaica are also featured. The character of Reggae icon Bob Marley, will be played by rising actor and singer Nisio Junior”.
