JTB, Air Jamaica collaborate fo winter rescue promotion

NEW YORK – As part of its Jamaican Winter Rescue Programme, the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) has collaborated with the national carrier, Air Jamaica, to provide New Yorkers a chance to win a tropical getaway to the island.

This exciting promotion encourages individuals to look out for taxicabs bearing special Jamaican advertisements, throughout the month of January. When a cab is spotted, New Yorkers can log onto WLTW-FM’s website, enter when and where they spotted the cab, and then enter the sweepstakes to win a trip to Jamaica courtesy of Air Jamaica, and Riu Palace Tropical Bay.

“Many consumers are looking for relief during our current challenging economic situation, along with an escape from the blistering cold winter weather.

With this programme, we want to inform and excite consumers about Jamaica’s accessibility and value for a tropical winter getaway,” Jamaica’s Director of Tourism, John Lynch, outlined, adding that: “we hope to remind New Yorkers of the warm, sunny Jamaican weather every time a Jamaican cab drives by, and spark excitement by offering them a chance to win a tropical vacation.”

According to Air Jamaica’s Senior Director for Sales, George deMercado: “Air Jamaica offers more non-stop flights from New York to Jamaica than any other airline. We are excited to be a part of the Jamaican Winter Rescue Promotion to remind consumers that, while it may be cold and snowy in New York, a tropical getaway is just a short plane ride away.”

“Additionally, Air Jamaica offers quality service and low fares at a time when many consumers are seeking deals which offer great value for money. Air Jamaica is proving that the Caribbean is still affordable this winter,” he further said.

On January 6, the JTB kicked off its Jamaican Winter Rescue Programme in a move aimed at informing consumers about the accessibility and affordability of an exciting Jamaican getaway.

In addition to spotting the Jamaican taxicabs, New Yorkers will be able to stop by the Port Authority Bus Terminal’s South Building each Tuesday, until February 3, to “warm up” Jamaican-style. In addition to the building’s adornment of Jamaican posters, floor mats, and banners, consumers will also find representatives from the JTB and Air Jamaica on-site each Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., who will assist them with up to date on Jamaica’s winter offerings.
