JN Small Business Loans Grants Christmas Rebate to Top Borrowers

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica’s leading micro and small business lender, JN Small Business Loans Limited (JNSBL) has given Christmas rebates to its leading customers.

Frank Whylie, General Manager of JNSBL, said the programme of refunding their last loan payments was intended to reward its best customers. The eleven best customers were defined as those having the most loans while also having perfect repayment records.

“This is our way of showing you how pleased we are that you have remained loyal to us,” Mr. Whylie told seven of the eleven clients. They formally received their cheques at the JNSBL head office in Downtown Kingston on Christmas Eve, December 24.

Mr. Whylie assured the borrowers that the company would be offering them new products in 2010 which would serve their needs even better. He said, “We will be able to offer you different repayment terms, based on the type of businesses you operate.”

There are now 45 micro and small business lenders operating in the island, as against three when JNSBL started operating a decade ago. Despite the increased competition, he said, “we have been able to grow as we are now the largest lender in the English Speaking Caribbean.”

He pointed to the strong relations between JNSBL field officers and their clients as one reason for the company’s success. He commended the officers present and thanked the business operators for their continuing support.

“The service is excellent,” said Mrs. Ena Williams, a livestock rearer, when asked why she remained a loyal JNSBL borrower. She added that she appreciated the advice and encouragement offered by her Field Officer, Judith Drummond.

“More small business owners should take advantage of the financing opportunities available, as well as the training and support systems,” Mrs. Williams said, “these services really help you to maintain your business.”

Derrick Anderson, who operates a mini mart at Mile End in St. Ann, said he was surprised when he heard of the rebate. “As a businessman I know the value of money so I was happy accept the offer.”

“I am very, very pleased with this rebate,” St. Catherine importer Ryan Grant said. “I made an extra effort to repay the loan and as a result, they made me feel big today”.

Rebate cheques were presented to long-standing clients having perfect repayment records on December 24 at the JNSBL headquarters on Duke Street in Kingston.
