Jamaica’s Newly Launched 3D Film Fuels Tremendous Market Interest

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica’s groundbreaking move to produce the world’s first destination video filmed entirely in 3D continues to fuel enthusiasm in markets overseas following the film’s unveiling at the World Travel Market, a four-day business-to-business exhibition being held in Excel, London, earlier this week. The film was created by eXposure4 Ltd, in partnership with the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB).

JTB representatives in the UK underscore that the feedback from the launch of the film has been overwhelming as viewers have been totally enthralled by the experience. Players in the Travel industry and media representatives, who were among the first to witness the film, have hailed it as revolutionary and simply phenomenal. Following the launch, Jamaica made the front page of the Travel Weekly, the UK’s biggest travel trade magazine on Monday, November 8. As enthusiasm over the film continues to mount, many persons have even been clamouring for personal copies. The JTB is presently facilitating private viewings to tour operators as well as travel trade and consumer press representatives, while the film is slated to be released online at a later date.

Basking in the success of the film, Darren Pearson, Managing Director of eXposure4 Ltd, explains that, “When we decided to move into the world of 3D filming, we looked for a positively progressive destination partner who would offer a global appeal and diversity as well as embracing the opportunity to show them in a new dimension. We have enjoyed a mutually rewarding relationship with the Jamaica Tourist Board for some time and welcomed their input on how this project would not only work aesthetically to showcase the destination, but commercially to drive business. Jamaica was the perfect destination to bring to life in 3D.”

Using advanced techniques and cutting-edge technology, the eXposure4 crew spent three weeks traveling across Jamaica to capture the island’s stunning scenery and culture in 3D film. Each scene was filmed with two synchronized cameras mounted on a specialized 3D double camera rig, before being edited together to create a unique visual masterpiece.

The storyline of the film spans a day in Jamaica, and follows the flight of the island’s national bird, the Doctor Bird, from sunrise to nightfall and beyond. Viewers are treated to incredible 3D footage, which brings to life the iconic sights of Jamaica like never before. Showcasing thrill seekers zip-lining, swimming with horses, and even bobsledding through the rainforest, viewers will be transported to the very heart of Jamaica for an unforgettable journey.

The first edit of the film is three and a half minutes long, and is shot to music custom composed by Mykaell Riley, founder of the Reggae Philharmonic Orchestra, ensuring it is suitable for a global audience without the need for translation or subtitles. A second, shorter version of around 30 – 45 seconds has also been created, which will be adapted for cinema screens around the world.
