The breakfast is being held in conjunction with the Consulate General of Jamaica for the Southeastern United States and is yet another practical business opportunity to the South Florida community in an effort to link local Jamaican and non-Jamaican businesses.

Dr. Tufton is also expected to visit several Jamaican-owned businesses in South Florida including LEASA Industries, and the South West Broward Vegetable Growers Association who are producing traditional Jamaican crops for local consumption, manufacturers, distributors and retailers of Jamaican food products.

As JAUSACC reaches out to a wide cross-section of businesses to attend the breakfast series, Chamber President Marie Gill emphasizes that “the quarterly event is designed to create networking opportunities for persons to meet influential ‘movers & shakers’ and new contacts who could have an impact on the growth of their businesses.” She continued that “the networking event will also review the importation of Jamaican agricultural products to the United States and local production of Caribbean produce.”

Newly appointed Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Dr. Tufton is a graduate of the University of the West Indies, Mona and Georgia State University, Atlanta, Georgia, where he received degrees in management studies and marketing respectively. He completed his doctorate in Business Administration at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom. A business strategist, he possesses a wealth of knowledge in international business and marketing strategy with a focus on foreign direct investment and has lectured in and provided consultancy internationally in those areas as well.

JAUSACC is continuing its commitment to bringing meaningful events to the community and its “Quarterly Movers & Shakers Breakfast” continues to feature topics designed to assist local businesses in today’s changing global economy and will rotate among Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties.

Launched in March 2004, under the auspices of the Consulate General of Jamaica in Miami, JAUSACC is committed to the creation of trade opportunities for its growing membership, and the strengthening of national, regional, and international commercial relationships between the United States and Jamaica. JAUSACC is an affiliate of the Association of Bi-National Chambers of Commerce (AIBCC) which is comprised of 40 Caribbean and Latin American community led national chambers as well as the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.
