Jamaica’s Championship Golf Courses Set To Host Two Major Year-End Tournaments

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica – Jamaica is set to showcase three of its world-class championship golf courses: Half Moon, White Witch and Cinnamon Hill, as the destination will host two major year-end tournaments in Montego Bay.

The 54-hole strokeplay LIME Jamaica Open tees off on December 1 at the Half Moon Golf Club, while the fifth Annual Jamaica Invitational Pro-Am “Annie’s Revenge” presented by NIKE GOLF will be played over the par-71 Cinnamon Hill and White Witch golf courses.

“Jamaica is proud to showcase three of Montego Bay’s top courses with these two major year-end golf tournaments,” says John Lynch, Jamaica’s Director of Tourism. “Montego Bay’s five world-class courses, which are in close proximity to each other, offer visitors great golfing experiences.”

To date, two PGA tour players Charlie Wi and Alex Cejka, have confirmed their participation in the LIME Jamaica Open 2010, which has a US$70,000 purse. Charlie Wi, who turned pro in 1995, played on the Nationwide Tour in 2006 and since then has been on the PGA Tour. He is currently 51st on the Money List and is ranked 33rd in the FedExp Cup standings. Alex Cejka of Germany turned pro in 1989 and has had four Top 10 finishes on the PGA tour with a tie for third at this year’s Turning Stone Resort Championship.

The Jamaica Invitational Pro-Am “Annie’s Revenge” presented by NIKE GOLF, expected to attract teams from the United States and Canada, will tee off on Thursday, December 9. Each team comprises three amateur golfers and their club professionals competing in the 54-hole event on two of Jamaica’s best golf courses, Cinnamon Hill and White Witch. Professionals participating in the week-long event will have the opportunity to vie for a $15,000 prize purse, while amateurs have the opportunity to win prizes donated by sponsors American Airlines, Nike Golf, and Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort & Spa for the exciting hole contests.

The Jamaica Invitational Pro-Am is managed by The Golf Connection LLC. All players and guests will enjoy the warm hospitality and world-renowned service of The Ritz-Carlton Golf & Spa Resort, Rose Hall, Jamaica’s only AAA Five Diamond Resort.
