Montego Bay, Jamaica – Ten Jamaican professional massage therapists have completed their Final International Therapy Examination Council (ITEC) Holistic Massage Course in Jamaica on January 14, 2015 at UWI Western Campus in Montego Bay. They are joined by other therapists from across the Caribbean, Belize and Dominica and together they will lead the way in improving standards in the wellness industry and in the wider Caribbean. The ITEC accreditation is recognized internationally and will be a tremendous benefit to the graduates in their careers.
The project was conceptualized by Patricia Berry Greenidge, Principal of PBHC School Inc., Barbados and the Barbados Coalition of Service Industries Inc. and is part of the vision of the CARTFund Health and Wellness Project that seeks to equip countries within CARIFORUM with the competencies and standards to create products of excellence in the wellness sector.
This outstanding programme was made possible by The Caribbean Export Development Agency with funding support from the Caribbean Development Bank under the CARTFUND Facility. The programme officially began in Jamaica, July 2014 and recently ended January 14, 2015. The group will stage its graduation exercises in March 2015.
