Jamaica Cultural Alliance presents Jamaica, Farewell in Miami Beach, July 17

MIAMI BEACH – Jamaica Cultural Alliance is thrilled to present the international hit comedy, JAMAICA, FAREWELL, written and performed by NAACP award winner, Debra Ehrhardt.

Jamaica Farewell was the final production in the 2010-11 Subscription season at Garry Marshalls, Falcon theatre in Los Angeles where it was produced in association with Rita Wilson (AKA Mrs. Tom Hanks) and directed by Joel Zwick, director of Big Fat Greek Wedding. After successful runs in the USA, Canada, England, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Bermuda, Debra brings her thrilling tale to Miami on Sunday, July 17th at the Colony Theatre located at 1040 Lincoln Rd in Miami Beach.

Debra Ehrhardt

Debra Ehrhardt’s solo show Jamaica, Farewell, based on a mostly true story about her journey to the USA from Jamaica in the turbulent 1970s of the Manley Era, is a hilarious and touching story of how one woman risked everything in order to fulfill her lifelong dream of starting over in America. Debra’s tour de force performance is a wild roller coaster ride of suspense, intrigue, seduction, humor and manipulation.

A native of Kingston, Jamaica, Debra Ehrhardt, knew at the tender age of seven that her dream was to come to America. By 18, her dream was realized. She is currently touring with her third solo show, Jamaica, Farewell. Previous productions include Mango, Mango which received two NAACP Awards and Invisible Chairs, which was produced by David Strasberg at the Marilyn Monroe Theatre in West Hollywood and later optioned as a situation comedy by Fox. She was also a 2007 NYC Fringe festival award-winner and received a 2007 Proclamation from the City of New York for Jamaica, Farewell for her “Outstanding Contribution to the Jamaican Community.”

The stage and screen rights for Jamaica Farewell was recently optioned by Rita Wilson, producer of ‘Big Fat Greek Wedding.’ A member of the Writer’s Guild of America, Ms. Ehrhardt is currently adapting Jamaica, Farewell for the big screen.
