Inspirational Powerhouse – Susan L Taylor Comes To T&T

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – On Saturday June 4th the Women’s Institute for Alternative Development (WINAD) a non-governmental organization in Trinidad & Tobago will commemorate their 12th anniversary with an esteemed international speaker – Ms. Susan Taylor, former Editor in Chief of Essence Magazine. In addition to being a world class philanthropist and inspirational leader, Ms. Taylor is a tremendous advocate for youth, mentoring and women’s programmes and the development of community networks, she is also a daughter of the soil with Trini roots. She has been voted one of the top 40 Fabulous women in the world by Essence Magazine October 2010.

The Hyatt Regency Hotel will be the host for a dynamic group of grassroots women’s organizations, business professionals, government leaders as they gather to participate in this programme. The event features a formal programme and Feature address by Ms. Taylor on the topic – The Journey to Womanhood. This address will be followed by a cocktail reception, book signing and a Silent Auction with items from American Airlines, Claudia Pegus and Soka in Moka Fete 2012.

All funds raised from the Inspirational Evening with Susan L Taylor will be used to help sustain the local WINAD projects.

The Women’s Institute for Alternative Development (WINAD) is a non-governmental organization and has been an advocate for gender equality and the promotion of women for the last 10 years. WINAD, an advocate for gender equality and the promotion of women, is known for its Inter-generational Women’s Leadership Programme and most recently the Small Arms treaty initiative. The organization has worked with many groups within Trinidad and Tobago such as, the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA), St Jude’s Home for young girls, Friends for Life (FFL), and Advocates for the Poor etc.
