Hyatt Regency Trinidad Prepares To Host Commonwealth Heads Of Government Meeting

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – After successfully hosting the Fifth Summit of the Americas, including 34 Heads of State this past April, the Hyatt Regency Trinidad is honored to welcome Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) November 27-29.

We are pleased that the Hyatt Regency Trinidad has been selected to host this meeting of heads of some of the most important countries in the world,” said General Manager Russell George. “After the successful Summit of the Americas earlier this year, we are confident that this event will run smoothly and that our staff will continue to provide the highest level of service.”

Preparations for hosting these important meetings, as well as the 53 Heads of Government, this year have included upgrading several standard guestrooms to suites so that all Heads of State have suite-level accommodations, specially created international menus with an emphasis on local ingredients and additional support from North and South American Hyatt hotel personnel.

The CHOGM is the supreme body of the Commonwealth. It is convened every two years to review global, political and economic developments and to conduct a strategic overview of the Commonwealth’s work in support of the interests of member countries. The objective of this summit is to engage leaders of the Commonwealth in discussing global and Commonwealth issues and to agree upon collective policies and initiatives. All nations, regardless of size, have an equal say and vote at this meeting and all CHOGM decisions and initiatives are reached only by consensus.

With an expert team of conference coordinators, food and beverage managers, entertainment and event planners, the Hyatt Regency Trinidad can tailor a gathering for 25 to 2,500 persons. More than 43,000 square feet of versatile function space is available from small breakout rooms to two ballrooms, one the spectacular 16,000 square feet Regency Ballroom. Plus, the latest innovations in meetings technology, audio/visual services and translation facilities effectively combine advanced business service and amenities with cross-cultural communication.
