House of Congress working to restore positive vibes to music industry

NEW YORK – “The entertainment business needs some change. There is just too much war and violence, it needs some uplifting positive vibes,” Mickie Congress, a member of the management team of House of Congress stated, in introducing the production company.

House of Congress, with management teams based in Portmore and New York, comes to the fore with a vision – to change the receding trend of the entertainment business.

With a roster of young talented acts to work with, the company is set on making its presence felt.

According to Parro Congress, another member of the management team, “We are here to bring good music to the world, to make a difference by investing in quality acts, put them to the forefront and hopefully by doing that we can change the trend.”

Carl Anthony Flowers formed House of Congress in 1988 with the aim of establishing a multi-dimensional company where he would be involved in several aspects of the entertainment industry.

Twenty years later that dream has been realized, as House of Congress is now into music production, artiste management, sound system and show promotion.

With the main players being Carl, Mickie, Parro, Andre and Shawn, the team has a clear agenda for 2008.

“We want to be all over the place with the House of Congress label…we will be doing more producing, looking to get some female artistes on the label and of course, we have Magnum Tonic Wine Congress Fridayz anniversary coming up in March,” Parro shared.

Magnum Tonic Wine Congress Fridayz is held every Friday at Paradise Club at the Oak Park Plaza in Braeton, St. Catherine.

Among the artistes already signed to the House of Congress label are King Shadrock, Truthful, K-Wise, Isimaj, Ikushini, Hallowpoint and Alberto Fray.

Artistes that have recorded for HOC are Cutty Ranks, Anthony B, Lutan Fyah, Anthony Cruz, Hero, Ginjah, Elephant Man, Sadeke, Shadu, Shano, G-Lock and John Niceness.

Last year the company started music production with two new rhythms that created a buzz in the dancehall.

The Stars rhythm featured the likes of Anthony B, Hero, Lutan Fyah, Ginjah, Cutty Ranks and HOC artistes King Shadrock, Hallow Point and A.S.K.

Presently, House of Congress is involved in voicing several top artistes on its new Trouble rhythm including Cutty Ranks and artistes signed to the company. The rhythm is expected to be unleashed in March with a music video medley in the making.

“This is exciting times for us. There are several other things on the agenda for this year…which will see HOC in your face,” Parro stressed.
