Free to the general public, the highly anticipated festival of celebration will include live performances on the main stage by Grammy Award Winner, Melanie Fiona and Mya, along with Glenn Jones, Bobby Valentino, Carl Thomas, Deep Fried Funk Band, Larry Dogg with a Tribute to Frankie Beverly & Maze, and back by popular demand Raheem Devaughn.  Hot 105 & 99 Jamz have been announced as the official media sponsors for this year.

Local Overtown businesses and vendors will be on hand showcasing artwork, ethnic cuisine, unique crafts, jewelry, clothing, and more.  For over four years, some of the world’s top contemporary artists have graced the stage of the festival entertaining an enthusiastic eager audience of over 5,000 local residents and nation-wide festival goers.

This year, while adult festival goers will flock the main stage, the youth will once again enjoy the Youth Zone hosted by the non-profit side of Headliner Market Group “Teens Exercising Extraordinary Success” (TEES).  The Youth Zone will provide festival-style entertainment for toddlers to teens, including arts and crafts, bounce houses, storytelling, interactive workshops,  fitness competitions, dance performances, giveaway’s and tons of resources for families.

Once known as “Miami’s Little Broadway” and “Colored Town”, Overtown previously hosted music greats such as Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington and Aretha Franklin. In the past, the city was frequently visited by international guests seeking to enjoy the unique food, music and entertainment the community had to offer.  Artistic and cultural celebrations allow a community to begin to understand the historic, cultural, economic, and social context of a community — an essential foundation for developing and enhancing sense of place. The Overtown Music and Arts Festival presents an opportunity to celebrate the rich heritage that the Overtown community provides to the landscape of South Florida.

Sponsors include: City of Miami Commissioner Keon Hardemon, Southeast Overtown/Park West CRA, DIEM, T.E.E.S, House of Wings, Hot 105 Cares, WEDR 99Jamz, Early Learning Coalition of Miami Dade & Monroe Counties, Miami Innovation District, FP&L, and the Overtown Child & Youth Coalition.
