Get Fit and Support Leukemia Bone Marrow Awareness New Venue for the 5th Annual Race/Walk

MIAMI – On Saturday, November 3, 2012, the Kiwanis Club of Pinecrest/Palmetto Bay (KPPB) partners with Barbara Gordon Leukemia Bone Marrow Awareness, Inc. (BGLBMA) to present their annual Race/Walk at Larry and Penny Thompson Park, Shelter 2 at 12541 SW 184 Street, Miami, Florida 33186. Registration starts 7:30 a.m. and the race starts promptly at 9 a.m.

BGLBMA is inspired by Barbara Gordon’s dedication and commitment to educating others about bone marrow diseases and her quest to increase the number of bone marrow donors. BGLBMA’s mission is to create awareness among South Florida communities with the vision to become a global contributor to saving the lives of people diagnosed with Leukemia bone marrow disease.

“We are very excited that our 5th Annual Race/Walk for Awareness is at the beautiful Larry and Penny Thompson Park this year. We invite you to bring a team of your friends and your co-workers, and bring your family too. You’ll love the outdoor facilities while you compete in the 5K run, or the walk and participate in the fun activities,” says Barbara Gordon, founder of the BGLBMA. “There will be prizes and surprises and you may even have a chance to save a life.”

The Race/Walk includes a 5-kilometer race for runners and a 5-kilometer race for walkers and a chance to win an IPAD, a Kindle Fire, and more prizes and surprises. For an entry fee of $20 per person ($25 per person on Event Day), participants will receive a registration kit including race t-shirt and race bib. Participants will also have an opportunity to learn about becoming a bone marrow or blood cell donor at the Be the Match booth. Fruits, water and other snacks will be available before and after the race, and there will be lots of fun activities for the whole family.
