Festival of Colours: 3rd United Phagwah/Holi Celebration

Holi CelebrationLAUDERHILL – The 3rd United Phagwah/Holi Celebration by Jayadevi Arts Lauderhill, FL – Saturday March 7, 2015 at Central Broward Regional Park Pavilion 8 from 2.00 pm to 8.00.  Admission is Free!!! Park’s Gate fee is $1.50 per person.

Jayadevi Arts Inc 3rd Holi Celebration with entertainment galore! 2-3pm Cultural program by local artists and youth groups performing traditional songs (Chowtaal and Holi), Dances by Jayadevi Dancers, Champa Chameli, & Tassa drumming by Florida’s best Tassa Group.  3-8pm will be Holi Celebration with Amit Sounds and DJ Ravi from Bacchanal Radio PLUS Trinidad and Tobago Ambassador Neeshan D Hitman, 8 top Musicians direct from Suriname South America–The Baithak Gana Warriors led by Rayen Kalpoe displaying Baithak Gana Music and Londa ki Naach style of dance, Prince JP from Guyana, and South Florida’s Queen Mala Samaroo.  New York’s Hottest Talk show “Let’s Talk with Lakshmee” Miss Lakshmee Singh, and from Nigeria Igroove Radio Raymond Bola Browne will be here to interview and broadcast event.  We have invited Consul Generals from Trinidad, Guyana, Suriname, & Jamaica along with Broward Commissioners Dale Holness and Stacy Ritter, State Representatives Daphne Campbell and Hazelle Rogers, Broward Mayor Barbara Sharieff, BSO, and the Broward Diversity Advisory Council (DAC).

Phagwah or Holi is a festival of colors celebrating the coming of spring and the triumph of good over evil.   This event caters to everyone regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background. Festivals like Phagwah bring together people from different ethnic background in South Florida to enjoy in a kaleidoscope of colors. Let us use this celebration to consolidate our presence in this new society and share the treasures of our culture in our new home land.

This event will be a part of Broward 100. Vegan food and non-alcoholic beverages will be on sale.  No Coolers please! T-shirts, Colored Powder, bubbles, water guns and pumps will be on sale!!  There will be a dry area to avoid getting wet or colored.

Note: – Colored powder and water will be in designated areas.  Suggestion: Wear all white for colors to show. Be advised that clothing may get colored or stained so dress appropriately and bring towels or change of clothing! (Please any time after 3:30pm)  Come out and have fun with us!!!
