Early voters experience less wait times on day three of early voting in Miami-Dade County

MIAMI – In an effort to help create a pleasant experience for early voters, the Miami-Dade Elections Department is taking additional measures. Additional electronic check-in units were deployed at five sites with more units on the way later this week.

Also, as of tonight, Early Voting location wait times will be posted at www.miamidade.gov/electionready and available by calling 3-1-1.

Updates will be made throughout the day. A listing of today’s wait times can also be found at the end of this release. To help with line management, additional poll staff have been stationed outside of every site.

“Our priority is the voter,” said Supervisor of Elections Lester Sola. “We are constantly evaluating our processes and making all possible adjustments to make sure voting is as convenient and comfortable as possible.”

Long lines, especially during a Presidential Election, are a sign of an engaged community and should be expected. However, as you will notice from today’s wait times, several early voting locations experienced wait times of only 30 minutes, and more than half of all locations had a wait time of one hour or less.

Voters are encouraged to go online or call 3-1-1 before heading to the polls, so they know what to expect. Voters can rest assured that as long as they are in line by the time polls close, they will be guaranteed their right to vote.

Voters should remember to bring identification that contains both a photo and a signature. Voters are also encouraged to make their voting choices before going to the polls. Sample ballots are available on the Elections web site at www.miamidade.gov/electionready .
