Distinguished Youth Forum Panelists announced for 2nd Annual Caribbean Youth Forum

SOUTH FLORIDA – In honor of Caribbean American Heritage Month and Jamaican Diaspora Day, the Jamaican Diaspora Southern United States proudly presents the second annual Caribbean Youth Forum – “One Community, One Family, One Future.”

Join distinguished members of the South Florida Caribbean community on Saturday June 6, 2009 in the multi-purpose room of the South Regional-Broward College Library from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. for this powerful youth leadership event.

Participants can look forward to dynamic speakers and panelists from all walks of the Caribbean. Count on engaging and lively discussion on Supporting Our Students, Getting Involved and, the Influence of our Music and Culture.

Our panelists and moderators are of diverse and eclectic backgrounds that span the countries of the West Indies.

Participating in the Supporting Our Students panel meet noted project consultant Stephanie Sylvestre, former Honorary Consul of Belize and Dr. John Barker from the Office of Academic Advancement at the University of Miami.

Participating in the Getting Involved panel meet Kadian Powell 2009-2010 President of the Florida Caribbean Student’s Association (FCSA) and Attorney Marlon Hill, partner at delancyhill P.A. and Jamaican Diaspora Advisory Board Member for the Southern United States.

Participating in the Influence of our Music and Culture panel meet Jeannette “Duchess” Drew, Host of “Sounds of the Caribbean” on 91.3 FM WLRN and Winston Barnes, Miramar City Commissioner and host of “The Open Line” on WAVS 1170 AM, and renowned DJ Leighton “Walshy” Paul Walsh.
