Directors Re-appointed at JNBS Annual General Meeting

KINGSTON, Jamaica – An overwhelming majority of members of the Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) voted to re-appoint three retiring directors at the Society’s 139th Annual General Meeting held at The Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, August 14, 2013.

The three directors who were re-appointed were: Parris Lyew Ayee, Executive Director of the Jamaica Bauxite Institute; the Hon. Dorothy Pine-McLarty, Attorney-at-Law; and Kathleen A. J. Moss, Management Consultant and Chartered Business Valuator.

In her response on behalf of the re-appointed directors, Mrs. Moss, who is also Deputy Chairman of JN General Insurance Company Limited, thanked members for their support and promised that the board would continue to work in the best interest of members.

The firm of Chartered Accountants, KPMG, which have served Jamaica National for more than ten years, was reappointed by the Annual General Meeting; however, a majority of members voted to reject a motion to increase board members’ remuneration by seven percent effective April 2013.

The meeting, attended by in excess of 600 members, also accepted the report of the General Manager, Earl Jarrett, which highlighted the Society’s performance for the financial year ending March 2013. The JN Group ended the year with a net surplus of $926 million, less than the $2.07 billion achieved in the previous financial year.
