MIAMI – Typical “Ole Nega” behavior – when someone is up we rally around them and when they are down we kick them and disperse. I have been hearing so many comments about Asafa Powell – how people are disappointed in him and how he should have done this and should have done that.
Who the heck are we to talk, or criticize this phenomenal athlete.
I ask you – what is your personal best in the 100M. None of you have trained a fraction of what this man has trained. None of you have done anything close to what Powell has done to help to put Jamaica on the map and you have the nerve to be criticizing Asafa Powell. The question is – What have you done for your country (whether it be Jamaica, US or another country.)

Lets give the man the credit he deserves. Just because he has not won an Olympic medal, lets not forget he held the World Record for the fastest man before Lighting Bolt came along and attained the title. And, we congratulate Bolt for that. We rallied around Powell during the 2004 Olympics, because he was one of Jamaica’s best representatives.

So, we lift him up when he was on top and now we want to kick him when he is not on top. Asafa Powell is still a great athlete. He may need to work on finishing strong and following through. Lets encourage him and not put him down. Lets send him words of encouragement and love, because we want to see all of our athletes do their very best.
Lets Celebrate Bolt’s victory, but congratulate all the athletes that made it to the Olympics as well. Let’s encourage and support and not pull down and discourage. At this time, they need all the support they can get. As a matter of fact, if anyone as an e-mail address for Powell or his manager, please spread the word, so that we can send words of encouragement as he takes on his other races.
