Officials hope modernization attracts major large-scale events 

MIAMI GARDENS Leaders throughout Miami-Dade County recently assembled at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens to witness the beginning of a major renovation of the Miami Dolphins’ home. Sporting hard hats and protective gear, public officials, community leaders and Miami’s business elite came out to celebrate the groundbreaking of this sports arena, which officials hope will attract future Super Bowl games and collegiate championships.

“I sponsored the modernization of Sun Life Stadium,” Commissioner Jordan said. “While the Miami Dolphins are good corporate citizens, it was the benefit to the community that swayed my decision to back this initiative.”

The project features a number of job-creating incentives, include working with Miami-Dade

County’s Small Business Program to identify and hire local design firms, construction companies and workers. The Dolphins will seek to hire a minimum of 35 percent of the subcontractors from within Miami-Dade County by working with local chambers of commerce to ensure diversity when hiring companies.

According to the Miami Dolphins administration, conservative estimates indicate the stadium modernization project will bring at least 4,000 good paying jobs to Miami-Dade County.
