SOUTH FLORIDA – A question to be posed at this time is what is the truth, or what is true?
One definition for the truth is “that which has been accepted as true”. Therein lies the problem, I am convinced.
For some time now people, especially the younger set, seek to reject fundamental truths with the retort, “that’s your opinion”. Much of this attitude and behavior is driven by the array if opinions sought and found on the internet.
Increasingly however, grown-ups have been rejecting all forms of truth for manufactured truths. It really began a long time ago, when we started allowing commercials to convince us to make purchases of goods or services.
Even today, or more so today, especially television commercials are at best propaganda for a manufacturer or service provider.
What has happened however, especially in the on-going political binge, which began two years ago, is that we have all, as the saying goes, “drank the Kool Aid”! The truth no longer has any value or currency.
The true tragedy is that as the German propagandists discovered in seeking to promote the evil practices of Adolf Hitler and others of his ilk, if you tell a lie often enough, it becomes the truth, when enough people subscribe to it.
