Caribbean-American Chefs, DJs, Designers and Artists Highlight Chefs for Obama Reception in Miami

MIAMI – On Tuesday, September 18, 7:30pm in Miami, the Obama Victory Fund Florida Finance Committee will host a signature event of over 20 of Miami Top Chefs banding together their culinary talents to host a food tasting reception in support of President Obama’s re-election bid at the historic Moore Building in Miami’s Design District, 191 NE 40th Street, Miami, FL 33137.

With similar tours of other top chefs in Boston and Washington D.C., over twenty (20) top Miami chefs and food industry professionals, led by renowned Chef Michael Schwartz of Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink, will cater an eclectic menu reflective of the flavor of Miami and South Florida. Fresh from her hosting of the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz will serve as a campaign host of the Reception.

Participating Chefs for Obama will also include Patrick Adams of Gourmet Design, Timon Balloo of Sugarcane raw bar grill, Davidson Destinoble of Chef Creation Catering, Ron Duprat of Bravo Top Chef Contestant, Patrick Feyten of Atelier Monnier, Hedy Goldsmith of Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink, David Hackett, Executive Chef, Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa, Cindy Hutson of Ortanique on the Mile, Richard Leroy Ingraham, personal Chef to Dwyane Wade, Jouvens Jean, Chef du Cuisine, St. Regis Bal Harbor, Aria Kagan, Next Food Network Star Contestant, Larry LaValley of 3800 Ocean, Steve Mosley of S&J Catering, Dena Marino of MC Kitchen, David Schwadron of Chef David Catering, Wilkinson Sejour of Chef Creole, Hugh Sinclair, Irie Spice, Aaron Taylor of STK, and Kris Wessel of Florida Cookery. Each chef will each serve an original entrée dish and/or dessert.

Supporters will enjoy a relaxing Deco lounge, signature cocktails and open bar of beer and wine, live entertainment from Grammy nominated Latin jazz band Sammy Figueroa presents Sally’s Tomato: A Tribute to the Music of Cal Tjader and music interludes from local DJs for Obama, including DJs Irie, Griot, Africa, GQ, Medley, and Soul Survivor.

Installed by Nicole White Designs and Asanyah Davidson of Circa24, the event will also welcome a pop-up store – https://store.barackobama.com/runway-to-win.html – of some of the top designers in the world featuring signature items from the Obama campaign store.

Coordinated by Casting Director, Claudia ‘Mocha’ Jean, local fashion models will adorn the reception with some of these signature items.

Jamaican-Chinese visual artist Phil Fung will install a pop up art gallery to display some of his award winning pieces, including his selection in national Obama campaign Runway to Win competition.
