Chinese delegation including State Councilor of the People’s Republic of China arrives in Antigua

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – Her Excellency, Madame, Liu Yandong, State Councilor of the People’s Republic of China to Antigua and Barbuda, arrived at the V. C Bird International Airport this evening on an official two day visit.

Liu Yandong travelled with a delegation that includes six ministers and vice ministers of the People’s Republic of China.

The delegation is scheduled to participate in a series of activities including a courtesy call to Her Excellency Dame Louise Lake Tack and a meeting with Hon. Dr. W. Baldwin Spencer and members of Cabinet. Other activities on the State Councilor’s agenda include a courtesy call to Her Excellency, Governor General Dame Louise Lake Tack, a visit to the Antigua Girls High School and a Luncheon hosted by Prime Minister the Hon Dr. Baldwin Spencer.

A significant aspect of the visit will also include a signing ceremony of agreements which includes:

* The airport loan agreement
* Strengthening of bilateral scientific and technological cooperation
* Economic and technical cooperation
* Donation of computers

Antigua and Barbuda has maintained relations with the Peoples Republic of China since 1983.
