Celebrate The Art Of Storytelling At Miami-Dade Public Libraries

MIAMI – The Miami-Dade Public Library System is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Art of Storytelling (AOS), with community-wide events for the entire family. Enjoy Tales under the Stars, mini-festivals, storytelling slams and workshops. All events are free and open to the public.

The excitement culminates on Saturday, May 1, 10:30 a.m., with the International Festival at the Main Library, 101 W Flagler St.

Thursday, April 8, 5 p.m.

Brazilian Cultural Night – West Dade Regional – 9445 Coral Way

Enjoy a screening of the movie Taina, a tale of the Brazilian rainforest and an eight-year-old Indian girl who saves a rare lizard monkey from the grasp of animal smugglers.

Following the film, at 7 p.m. will be a special samba class with Nadia Hommerding.

Mini Festival- Celebrating Brazil – West Dade Regional- 9445 Coral Way
Experience the culture of Brazil with samba demonstrations, an interactive Capoeira show, the Great Kapok Tree show, the King of Leaves puppet show, Brazilian games, arts & crafts and more.

Game On! Teen Video Gaming Competition

Enter the Super Smash Bros Brawl competition. Winner of each qualifying round will compete for prizes in The Art of Storytelling: Teen Video Gaming Tournament, on May 1, at the Main Library. Number of participants is limited. Ages 12-19.
